Barry Manilow Concert

At the end of April Shepshed Singers were presented with the chance for a group of 20-25 singers to perform at the Nottingham Arena with American superstar Barry Manilow

The choir was given two pieces to learn from memory about 4 weeks prior to the concert, 'Dancing in the Street' and 'Stars in the Night' taken from the new musical that Barry had recently written.

We arrived early afternoon for rehearsal, having to learn some synchronised movements as well, a very pleasant man called Byron put us through our paces. We rehearsed most of the afternoon and some of us were fitted with microphones. We didn't see the superstar during rehearsal so we were quite excited about the evening performance. We had never performed for such a large audience before, so some of us found it terrifying.

Once on the stage for the performance it was wonderful, though most of us commented that we hadn't got a clue whether we were singing in tune, as we couldn't hear ourselves singing at all, we could only hear the orchestra and Barry. We had a group photo taken with Barry and some of our fan club took photo's during rehearsal and the performance.

A THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE!
